Description

Shy is directly connected to a specific moment in my life.  It was a cute romantic moment of just telling someone how I felt about them.  The whole story doesn’t all need to be typed out here, but if you think about any moment where you have felt shy, that will be a source for inspiration.  The rhythm in this piece should be played very slowly and rubato.  When listening to the recorded improvisation, I transcribed relatively close, but left room for individual interpretation.

Shy is from a collection of five solos called “Comprovisations: A Songbook for Marimba” – which represents selections that I wrote out from an album of the same title.  Be sure to check out the collection before “checking out” of the store! 🙂
