GIF Me Five is the most recent work I wrote and I am reminded again why I compose and how lucky I am to have players that play the music so well! The Oak Creek High School Percussion Ensemble knocked it out of the park this year with my newest percussion ensemble work, “GIF Me Five.” At WSMA Solo & Ensemble, they earned the right to take this work to State. At their second chance to play it for a judge, they earned a “1” rating while also being named one of the recipients of The Exemplary Performance Award! What a high honor!
As you can see in the behind the scenes video at the end, these are wonderful players to work with. Great sense of humor and I hope you enjoyed their playing! Remember, GIF Me Five is totally on sale on my website and there is a solo marimba version as well! Maybe it will fit you or your students!
