I’ve been Mike’s mallet student for about 2 years and the experience has been wonderful. I’ve always been curious to try mallet instruments but had no experience. Mike taught me everything from the basics of how to grab the mallets, to complex things like learning how to do different voicings while playing chords.
His teaching methods really helped me discover music from a very cool and different perspective, I’ve learned and discovered fun ways to understand theory better, my reading has improved thanks to his class and I learned that music is not just notes on a paper, but it can be finger or mallet shapes.
I definitely have felt like I’ve become a better musician thanks to his class and I can’t recommend his classes enough! Every lesson is always packed with fun and necessary tools for music life in general.

Mike was very cordial from the first email, and contacted me not long after I had scheduled lessons for the next week. He was very eager to begin teaching, as well as proactive in his communications with me.
As we began, we quickly discovered what areas of music theory that I needed help in. While I did not have a microphone, he was able to explain enlightening concepts to me while being open for questions at any time. He also drew helpful diagrams on a whiteboard as he taught, which granted more clarity.
Afterwards, I received an email with material that I could use to study, and he gave suggestions as to what to apply my knowledge to.
Mike is definitely worth looking into if you want a relaxed, informative and experienced teacher for such a great price.

Michael is great with my kids. He is teaching my youngest daughter, age 11, the drums and my oldest, age 13, the guitar. We are able to all come together and he takes them one at a time. He is very encouraging to the girls, even when they mess up he has something positive to say to show them the correct way of doing it. In just 3 lessons I can see improvements and they are both very excited when we get home to show dad what they learned.
