Mega Trio – for percussion trio

Description

Mega Trio is a percussion trio that has a specific circular setup. Each player has their own instrument, bongos, congas, and tom, but they must have a snare drum setup in the center of their setup for all to access. The trio has a driving sixteenth note section called “Mega Groove,” but it also will move into multiple time signatures before a calmer section; “Cool Mellow Groove.” During this work, have fun listening for these sections as well as the rhythms that pop out through the use of the shared snare drum. This work is newly dedicated to Andrew Danks, Annaliese Heim, and Peter Matthews, who premiered it at the Wisconsin Chapter of the Percussion Arts Society’s Day of Percussion in January of 2018.
