Description

Flutter is a piece based around a repeating ostinato pattern that rhythmically stays rigid throughout the work.  Even though the rhythm of the composition is minimalistic, the harmonic approach sways around where the outer and inner mallets take on new roles during the works evolution.  Emotionally, this work is reflective of a feeling of flight after a successful moment or a touching moment of new love.

Flutter is from a collection of five solos called “Comprovisations: A Songbook for Marimba” – which represents selections that I wrote out from an album of the same title.  Be sure to check out the collection before “checking out” of the store! 🙂
