Wisconsin Area Music Industry Nomination!
It’s pretty unbelievable to think that I made it to be a finalist in the 2023 WAMI awards.
While I definitely have been riding the coattails of the honor by telling people that I have a WAMI nominated album with a WAMI nominated song by a WAMI nominated artist, I feel weird about it.
First, I feel actually really proud because I didn’t even know that I had made it past registration, should I have found out about this in some way? Email? Oh well. That must mean that people voted for me without me plugging it all over the internet… right?
Well, then, I finally did do a big Facebook plug and I got this interesting response that made me actually doubt whether I had earned anything. This person who shall remain anonymous alluded to the fact that they were just letting my entry in so that we could sell tickets and get more dues for new members being recruited.
Hmmm… social media sucks. This person is maybe salty they didn’t win one year? It’s only $10 for a year, so it didn’t seem like a big money maker for them…. Let me know what you think!
Overall, I really just wanted to tell a cool story that would kind of be possibly controversial while telling you that I am mega proud to be nominated for multiple WAMI categories. Whether or not you believe in this organization, you have to believe in yourself, and being nominated for an award like this definitely gives me a vote of confidence.
So far, I have dropped my album off at Acme Records, Rush-mor Records, Lilliput Records, Bullseye Records, Vinyl Vault Records and Volta Records!
